The Spinosaurus

Ranger Rom Hi guys!

You probably thought the winner in the monster category would be Tyrannosaurus?

The Spinosaurus had a huge, crocodile-like mouth, a sail of skin jutting up from its back and was slightly heavier than the Tyrannosaurus, weighing in at 7 or 8 tons. Spinosaurus just might be the largest of all known carnivorous dinosaurs, even larger than Giganotosaurus!

It’s possible that this dinosaur’s famous sail evolved as a way of increasing its skin area, and hence allowing it to cool down faster, more evidence that Spinosaurus was the king of the carnivores.

Spinosaurus meaning “spine lizard” lived in what is now North Africa, in the Cretaceous period, about 112 to 97 million years ago. It is thought to have eaten fish; it probably lived both on land and in water, just like a modern crocodile!

So, who would you like to be friends with a Spinosaurus or Tyrannosaurus?

Ranger Rom Hey guys, here is a nice photo of me and my first Spinosaurus encounter. We got our time machine stuck in the mud and needed to run for cover! He was not very friendly.
